Race Report - 750 Motor Club - 2025 Round 2 - Silverstone

Date: May, 2025

Blown away, as were some car parts nearly!

So thats a wrap for round 2 at Silverstone and what a weekend! Glourious sunshine, a bit of wind and 2 days of on track action!

Day 1 was qualifying and race 1. Qualifying was good apart from a slight half spin going into luffield it went well. I shifted down a gear too early and had a semi lockup of the rears as I was turning in. Half spin, onto the grass and back out onto the track again. Brown pants, elevated heartbeat.

Back of the grid and first in class!

I think by that you can guess that I was the only driver in my class for the weekend. All I had to do was finish the races and I'd get a trophy or two!

Sadly the racing gods had other ideas. During race 1 the drivers side wheel arch decided it didn't want to be fully attached to the car anymore. One measly bolt held on for dear life just long enough for me to make it back to the pits and retire.

The plan was to head home for the evening and come back the next day with a box of bolts to refit it in the morning.

The paddock fairies had other ideas about that though. When I turned up the next morning I walked up to the car with my bolt box in hand to find that my fellow competitors had already repaireed my car overnight!

I was absolutley blown away by this and made sure everyone involved was thanked! It really does show what a great community there is not only in the 750 motor club but specifically the Sports Specials Championship!

They also gave me some pointers on what I can do to make some improvements as well as a slight safety concern they had about my wheel studs! Needless to say, new wheel studs were ordered immediately and they have now been fitted.

So day 2 of racing, starting at the back of the grid and I got a great start but then the low power of my car compared to the class A,B & C cars really showed. I'm pretty much with them or faster than them through the corners but with the long straights of the Silverstone national circuit the lack of power really shows.

I did manage one overtake around luffield and woodcote but as soon as we got to the start finish straight he got past me again and that was that. It did feel good to get a genuine overtake done and around the outside as well!

All in all another fun weekend of racing and the best part was, I got a trophy!

Time for a few more upgrades before Mallory though. A new exhaust manifold is on its way, an air filter and longer wheel studs. Hopefully I'll get to a dyno as well for an engine remap.

Heres the onboard footage from the weekends racing, all in one video this time due to the very much shortened ravce 1.

Feel free to give a follow and thumbs up on the video to help the algorithms get my videos to more people!
